Painting & Decorating FAQ's

Yes, all our painters and decorators at Artistic Decor are fully qualified and have extensive knowledge on all aspects and techniques of painting.

Each decorator undergoes a specific set of tests and must pass each one with flying colours in order to work within our company.

At Artistic Decor we pride ourselves on our standards and services. Our client’s experience is important to us so please rest assured you’re in safe hands.

On multiple occasions we have fixed and repaired the work of other painters and decorators. Unfortunately, we see this sub-standard level of work so many times – people using incorrect material, not applying it with the correct technique or in the time frame given by manufacturer – you name it, we’ve seen it!

This has a dramatic effect on the client and results in a lack of trust within our trade. There is nothing worse than having to spend more money to get the job fixed again after already paying someone to complete the job. So, to answer the question, yes we can most definitely fix up botch-jobs.

When we quote jobs, we take a good look at the prep work that will be needed to create the flawless finish we are known for. It is during this stage that we will be able to look at what has been done previously and identify what we need to do to rectify the situation and give you the finish you deserve.

Most companies will get in and get out whereas we come in and do the job correctly, from start to finish.

We use specialist tools to ensure work goes nice and smoothly with minimal disruption to our client’s homes and spaces.

With our zero-rate call back and accidental damage rating we pride ourselves on our work.

We use some of the most advanced, cutting edge tools within our trade to make things nice and easy for our clients;

  • Festool extraction systems are used when sanding to prevent dust and to vacuum the site while the project is ongoing and for final clean up.
  • GRECO hand held spay gun to assist with complex works and guaranteed coverage with beautiful factory finishes.
  • Masking guns, state of the art masking equipment that will protect and cover all parts of our client’s home – from tiles, windows and furniture to carpets.

Our team goes above and beyond to ensure everything is done perfectly for all our clients and that minimal disruption occurs.

Artistic Decor is fully insured up to $20 million to cover any on site issues that could occur.

We hold up to date public liability insurance and hold all the correct and up-to-date licences in enabling the company to take on projects up to $1 million and are registered with government documents.

Due to us being so proud and confident in what we do, we offer a 7-year workmanship guarantee on all our work to give you peace of mind. Please see or ask for a copy of our terms and conditions for more details.

Depending on the size of each project and the preparation requirements, times scales may vary. We give our clients as much notice as possible and inform them of how long the work will take by giving an estimated time scale. Once a project is underway, we give our clients daily progress reports to keep them in the loop.

Depending on what the piece of furniture it is, we would be happy to move furniture around to assist as we understand this can be a bit of a pain.

If the items are very heavy, we would ask our clients to remove some items to allow for movement or to arrange for the item to be moved.

With smaller personal items, we would ask if you could remove them and relocate them to another place in the home until the decorating is completed.

Once everything is in place, we will mask and cover the whole room being worked on.

We offer our clients a choice of brands and explain what the differences and advantages are. Most companies will only use one brand and will most likely push you into using it due to it being all they know. This can have consequences as we have experienced in the past.

We have a very extensive knowledge of paints and brands and have assisted a lot of our clients with selecting the correct brand and materials for their job, saving them money in the long run.

Oil has been around for a very long time and has certainly made it’s mark in the market and in people’s homes.

Often clients are afraid to use oil paint due to the smell or headaches it can cause. It’s great for coverage and finish but unfortunately it is not eco-friendly at all and it’s not good for your health.

Most companies now are focusing on producing and improving Acrylic paints and are not bothering with the oil paints anymore.

Most Acrylic paints are so good that you can’t tell if it is an oil or water base finish. Unfortunately, a lot of the oil-based stain blockers are still required due to there durability, but we are noticing massive improvements in the Acrylic world and are constantly testing it out.

Artistic Decor use the best Acrylics on the market and avoid using oil wherever we can.

This all depends on the brand of paint you use and what you are painting. As long as the correct preparation has been completed and the correct number of coats have been applied, you should only need to recoat between 2 to 8 years or in some cases 24!
This is all depending on brands, material, interior and exterior.
Average estimates only:

  • Internal between 5-10 years
  • Eternal between 8-10 years
  • Decking 2-4 years

There is no need for our clients to move out while the decoration is under way. We have a lot of experience in working around people in their homes.

We communicate with our clients in how we will take on each part of the project to allow them time to prepare, whether they may need to move to another room or make other arrangements.

Usually we work around all our clients and they are happy with that, if our client requires a different way, we will be happy to assist with that also.

Nevertheless, we will always give our clients the best experience possible.

Artistic Decor prepares and completes all the Art Gallery of NSW exhibitions, you are in very safe hands.

Most companies would say no to this, but Artistic Decor are more than happy to offer advice and assist where we can.

Artistic Decor can get very busy and have up to a four week wait time at some points. We do however offer all our clients guaranteed start dates once the deposit has been received for the quote.

This was a question asked by a recent client we worked with. Our client wanted to know how we would get access to the top outside part of her home in order to give her the most accurate quote.

This is where the newest member of the Artistic Decor team comes in to her own…

We use state of the art technology to gain access to these high points by using a drone!

Yes, we use the company drone and her name is Lucy.

Lucy has been successful in gaining access to parts of client’s homes that no other trade or person can gain access to without scaffolding or ladders.

We send Lucy up and she shows us live-stream footage of what she sees. This allows us to see the extent of any damage that might be hidden out of plain sight and enables us to see the repairs that are required.

Lucy enables us to quote our clients correctly from the beginning with no surprise charges or extras down the track due to missing something in the early stages of a project.

We even show our clients the live footage that Lucy provides us with.

Not only do our clients find it fascinating to see Lucy in action, they actually get a chance to see what needs to be done for themselves and this gives our clients a chance to see what we see. We love Lucy and we’re sure you will too.
